CDLC Remains Firm and United Entering Special Session

DENVER, CO — As we enter this special session, we as a caucus have taken time to reflect and consider the votes that lie ahead. We feel the weight of the decisions that stand before us, and recognize that regardless of the outcomes of this special session, Coloradans will be negatively impacted. Not because we do not hold their best interest at heart, but because we have been put in an impossible situation by the federal government. This is Trump’s mess, not ours, and we will do everything in our power to mitigate the impacts on H.R.1 on our beautiful state. In the midst of what will surely be an eventful few days, we, the Colorado Democratic Latino Caucus affirm the following priorities: 

Closing Corporate Tax Loopholes 

We unequivocally reject Trump’s favorability to billionaires.

Consumer Protections for All 

We will not violate consumer protections for the sake of innovation. 

Investing in the Continual Operations of OmniSalud 

We believe that healthcare is a human right that all Coloradans should have access to. 

We look forward to engaging in respectful and meaningful debate about these topics with our colleagues as we are faced with many difficult decisions.
